The incidence of retinopathy of prematurity in different gestational ages

Introduction: Since retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a preventable cause blindness in children, evaluation declared criteria for their screening crucial. The aim this study to evaluate the incidence disease Nikukari Eye Hospital according gestational age and neonatal birth weight. Methods: In cross-sectional study, after determining frequency based on patients referred ROP clinic, neonates were divided into groups 500 1000 g, 1001 1500 1501 2000 above 28 weeks, 28-30 30-32 32-34 over 34 each group was compared. Results: present 661 cases evaluated, which 93 infants (14.1%) had ROP. mean±standard deviation weight with 1199.51±406.80 g significantly lower than those without who mean 2022.69±649.73 (P=0.001). (SD) 29.22±2.67 weeks non-ROP patients, 33.41±2.73 Conclusion: results our showed that 13 newborns weighing between affected by disease, indicates importance ongoing children.
